LING 102: Introduction to the Study of Language (Lecture)

Description

This is an introductory course on the scientific study of language. Language is a mysterious and wondrous aspect of our world Studying language can be a great way to learn about yourselves as well as the place of human beings and human knowledge in the world. The principal objective of this course is to provide you with some basic tools for achieving this understanding. In this course we will engage with topics such as, but not limited to: the acquisition of language, dialects vs. languages, pidgins and creoles, language endangerment, and the connections between language and thought.
